What errors is a cannon scanner unable to recover from?

There are 3 unrecoverable errors on the CR-25/CR-55 and CR-180 scanners.

1. Canon API can not find a scanner attached
Error string:    "CSD_NODEVICE"
Exception Type:    TransportExceptionDeviceError
Exception Device:    TransportExceptionDeviceTransport

2. Canon API reports that a hardware error has occurred
Error string:    "CSD_HARDERROR"
Exception Type:    TransportExceptionDeviceError
Exception Device:    TransportExceptionDeviceTransport

3. Canon API reports that no ink cartridge is installed but endorsing is enabled
Error string:    "CSD_NOCARTRIDGE"
Exception Type:    TransportExceptionEndorserInkCartridgeMissing
Exception Device:    TransportExceptionDeviceRearEndorser
