- Problem Description:
- Changes to NCR's WiseIP 5.x were made in such a way that it could no longer process
TIFF images provided by the simulator. Windows reports exception
violations in WiseIP or the item processing application when TIFF images are used.
- Solution Description:
-
Update!
Please see reply below.
- Unlike previous versions of WiseIP, WiseIP 5.x can only process images that are stored in NCR's proprietary image format. This is the format returned by the 7780 and iTRAN 8000 at a low-level (beneath WiseIP).
- The solution involved modifying IP simulator to automatically convert
TIFF images used in its scripts into NCR's image format. Since some
customers use TIFF images that were not produced on NCR scanners, IP
Simulator also needed to convert generic TIFF images to this format.
Conversion of both black & white and grayscale images was also required.
- NOTE: The following patch is included in IP Simulator v5.x or later.
- Installing the patch:
-
- Exit any running scanner/sorter applications.
- Exit IP Simulator, if it is running.
- Go to the IP Simulator program folder: C:Program FilesSilver Bullet TechnologyIP Simulator
- Rename the file "stnapi.sb" to "stnapi.sb.save".
- Copy the attached patch file ("stnapi.sb") to the IP Simulator directory.
- Start IP Simulator and run as you normally would with your TIFF images.
IP Simulator v4.1.0 has been updated to correct this issue. I recommend uninstalling the current IP Simulator and then installing the current release.
